EW Bliss Company was an American company.

Company history

The company was founded in 1885 or 1886. The founder was Eliphabet Williams Bliss (1836–1903). The seat was in Brooklyn , New York . The company was active in the field of mechanical engineering and manufactured presses, among other things. Automobiles were created in 1906 . The brand name was Bliss . Harold E. Porter was the designer. In January 1906 vehicles were presented at an automobile show in New York. In January 1907, Bliss announced that production would end in late 1906. A total of ten vehicles were built.

In 1969 the Gulf & Western Manufacturing Company bought the company, which led to renaming and splitting. BCN Technical Services cites Bliss as a predecessor company.

Only one model was on offer. Its four-cylinder engine with T-head had 6200 cc displacement and 30 hp . The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via two chains. The chassis had a wheelbase of 290 cm . The open tonneau offered space for five people. Other body shapes were available at an additional cost.
