Deere-Clark Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles . Deviating from this, the name Deere-Clark Motor Company is found in the literature .

Company history

William E. Clark had already gained experience in the automotive industry at his Clark Manufacturing Company . In 1905 he allied himself with the agricultural machinery manufacturer John Deere , who acquired tools and machinery from the disbanded Clarkmobile Company . In January 1906 they founded the company in Moline , Illinois . The production of automobiles began. The brand name was Deere-Clark in the first year , then just Deere . In 1907 John Deere decided to get out of the joint venture. In September 1907 it went bankrupt . A total of 200 vehicles were built.

The company was reorganized under new management as the Midland Motor Company .

The only model was the 30 HP . It had a water-cooled four - cylinder engine with 30 hp and a cardan drive . The wheelbase was 254 cm in the first year. A five-seater touring car with side entry and a limousine were available. The name Type A has also been passed down for this year .

In 1907 the chassis was extended to a wheelbase of 269 cm. The term now was Type B . A roadster called Type C and Gentleman's Roadster supplemented the bodies previously offered.
