Van Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Grand Haven , Michigan in 1910 . In 1911 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Van . Production ended in April 1912. Until then, only a few vehicles were made.

That month, JA Owen, HM Pierce and Ms. LM Strong took over the company. The woman became president. According to the company, she was the first woman in such a senior position in the automotive industry. The plan was to continue production and offer the vehicles as a pioneer . However, it never came to that.

Only Model 22 was on offer . It had a four-cylinder engine with OHV valve control . It made 22 hp . It drove the rear axle via a three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The chassis had a wheelbase of 244 cm . The only superstructure offered was a roadster with two seats. The original price was 850 US dollars .
