Panther Motor Car Company , previously Panther Car Company Inc. , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Panther Car Company Inc. was founded in 1909, possibly earlier. The seat was in Boston , Massachusetts . In March 1909 a vehicle was presented at the Boston Automobile Show . The brand name was Panther . In April 1909 the name was changed to Panther Motor Car Company . Production ended in the same year. Production remained low.

The only model was a very light vehicle. The curb weight was stated to be 300 pounds (about 136 kg). A single cylinder engine with 7 hp was mounted in the front of the vehicle. The engine power was transmitted without a gearbox to the differential gear on the rear axle via a multi-plate clutch near the flywheel . The open runabout offered space for two people. The maximum speed was given as 64 km / h on the flat.
