Imperial Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles from Pennsylvania .

prehistory

N. Burrows Bubb opened a repair facility in Williamsport , Pennsylvania , in October 1905 . In November 1905, his sons Harry A. and Nathan B. rented the property, founded the Williamsport Automobile Exchange and operated as a car dealership . They sold Premier , Reo and White vehicles . At the end of 1906, work began on a prototype , which was ready to drive in the spring of 1907. The designer was the Dutchman CP Van Ferls, who was also the manager of the dealership.

The Williamsport Engineering Company was established to finance the prototype sure. Harry B. Bubb, the brothers' uncle, was president.

Company history

These two companies merged to form the new company on August 6, 1907. In October 1907 there were five vehicles at the New York Automobile Show . The brand name was Imperial . The company was not spared the economic crisis. The bankruptcy began on September 4, 1908 . A total of around 50 vehicles were built.

A special feature was the chassis , which enabled a low center of gravity. A four-cylinder engine from the Milwaukee Auto Engines and Supply Company with 35 HP power drove the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The wheelbase was 274 cm. There was a choice of a two-seat roadster for $ 2,500 and a four-seat roadster for $ 2650.
