Conover Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Edwin K. Conover founded the company in Paterson , New Jersey , in 1907 . In the same year he developed a vehicle. The production took place as commissioned work at the Watson Machine Company in the same location. The brand name was Conover . Production ended in 1912. A total of around 25 vehicles were built. The production was not cost-covering.

Edwin K. Conover held at least three patents .

Only one model was on offer. The four cylinder engine was purchased from the Rutenber Motor Company . It had 114.3 mm bore , 127 mm stroke , 5212 cc displacement and was specified with 35/40 hp . The cardan drive was common . The chassis had a wheelbase of 246 cm and a track width of 142 cm . As a two-seater runabout , the vehicle weighed 1043 kg. For a body as a five-seat touring car , the curb weight was specified as 1089 kg.
