Carter Motor & Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

JO Carter founded the company in Hannibal , Missouri , in 1915 . He started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Cartermobile in the first year . The success in the market remained low. Carter redesigned the vehicle and re-launched it as the Brownie in late 1915 . At the end of 1916 there were plans to relocate production to the Carter Manufacturing Company in Detroit , but these were no longer implemented. Production ended in 1916.

The only model had a four-cylinder engine . The chassis had a 292 cm wheelbase . The original price was 985 US dollars .

Brand name Brownie

There were hardly any differences. The wheelbase was shortened to 290 cm. The engine developed 23 hp . The price had been lowered to $ 735.
