FV Whyland & Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles . Another source confirms the brand name and the period, but not the company name.

Company history

Frank V. Whyland ran the Whyland-Nelson Motor Car Company until 1913 . In 1914 he founded the new company in Buffalo , New York State . The designer was Edward T. Birdsall, who later also worked for Gary Automobile Manufacturing Company , Pennsylvania Motor Car Company , Moline Plow Company and Stephens Motor Car Company . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Whyland . 1000 vehicles were planned in the first year. Production ended in 1914. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

The only model was called the Cyclecar . However, it is unclear whether it met the criteria. It had a four-cylinder , four-stroke , air-cooled engine . The chassis had a wheelbase of 254 cm and a track width of 142 cm . This gauge was common in America, but not for cycle cars, which were often narrower. The original price was 450 US dollars . The open body as a roadster offered space for two people.
