Shoemaker Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Charles Clinton Shoemaker founded the company in late 1906. The seat was in Freeport , Illinois . In the same year the production of automobiles began. His son Harry C. helped with this. The brand name was Shoemaker . 25 vehicles were built by October 1907.

Then a new plant for vehicle production was moved into Elkhart , Indiana . Harry Shoemaker ran it while Charles Shoemaker continued to work in Freeport making other things. Financial problems were announced just a month later. As a result, only existing parts were assembled into finished vehicles. Production ended in early 1908.

The St. Joe Motor Car Company was the successor.

In 1907 there was only the Model 6 . It had a four-cylinder engine with 109.5375 mm bore , 139.7 mm stroke and 5266 cm³ displacement . It was specified with 30/35 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 259 cm . The structure was an open touring car with five seats.

Two other models followed in 1908. The Model B had the same engine, but which was now given as 28 hp. In addition, there was the Model C . Its four-cylinder engine with the dimensions 114.3 mm bore and 133.35 mm stroke had 5473 cm³ displacement and 40 hp. The wheelbase and structure of both models corresponded to the previous year's model.
