Columbian Electric Vehicle Company , previously Columbia Electric Vehicle Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

CF Krueger founded the Columbia Electric Vehicle Company in February 1914 . The seat was in Detroit , Michigan . He started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was initially Columbia , possibly with the addition of Electric . In 1915 he changed the company name to Columbian Electric Vehicle Company and the brand name to Columbian or Columbian Electric to avoid confusion with the Columbia Automobile Company . Initially, sales prices were too low to make a profit. After a price increase, sales fell. At the end of 1917, Krueger decided to stop production and liquidate the company.

There were other US manufacturers of Columbia vehicles : Columbia Automobile Company , Columbia Engineering Works , Columbia Motors Company, and Columbia Carriage Company .

Only electric cars were on offer . The performance of the electric motors has not been handed down. The chassis had a uniform 224 cm wheelbase .

From 1914 to 1915 there were superstructures as runabouts with two seats and as coupelettes with three seats.

In both 1916 and 1917, a four-seater Brougham represented the third body variant.
