Union Car Company , previously Gage Manufacturing Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Gage Manufacturing Company was founded in Los Angeles , California in 1914 . Jay Gage as namesake, Oscar E. Freeman, Clyde T. Lloyd, Charles E. McClay and Ernest E. Noon were involved. They announced the production of automobiles on March 14, 1914. The brand name was Gage . They had signed a contract to produce 4,500 vehicles for sale on the west coast of the United States . The contract partner has not been handed down. It is unclear how many vehicles were actually made.

In December 1914, the name was changed to Union Car Company . The fee was abandoned. Instead, a larger and more robust vehicle was developed. The brand name was now Permax . At the time, LJ Newberry was President and Thomas HP Purman was General Manager. Production ended in 1915.

The only model was named the Cyclecar , although it is unclear whether it met the criteria. It had an air-cooled two-cylinder engine that was specified with 9/12 hp .
