Edwards Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

HJ Edwards and CG Stoddard had previously worked at Stoddard-Dayton and the United States Motor Company . They founded the company in February 1912. The seat was in Manhattan and the plant in Long Island City , both in New York City . They began producing automobiles in December 1912, which were marketed as Edwards-Knight . In July 1913, moving to Louisville , Kentucky was considered but not carried out. In October 1913, John North Willys von Willys-Overland bought the company and its patents . Production ended with that.

Only Model 25 was on offer . It had a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 4500 cc . It was a slide motor under license from Charles Yale Knight . Its engine power was given as 40/50 hp . Other special features were the starter and parts of the suspension based on patents from Frederick W. Lanchester . The chassis had a 305 cm wheelbase . A touring car with four or five seats, a speedster with two seats, a roadster with two seats, a sedan with seven seats and a landaulet with seven seats were available as superstructures .
