Read Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Joseph Beatty, Roy Herald and Ray J. Read founded the company in mid-1913. The seat was in Detroit , Michigan . They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Read .

In December 1913 a believer , Albert Schneider , sued . He claimed Read owed him over $ 1,000 and was bankrupt. To what extent the allegations are correct is no longer understandable. Production ended in early 1914. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

Only the Model X was on offer . A four-cylinder engine with 88.9 mm bore , 101.6 mm stroke , 2523 cm³ displacement and 20 HP power propelled the vehicles. The chassis had a 292 cm wheelbase . The only superstructure offered was a touring car with five seats.
