American Motors Inc. was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1917 in New York City , New York State . The production of automobiles began, which were intended exclusively for export . The brand name was Amco . The manufacturing facility was initially located in Norwalk , Connecticut and later in Stamford . The designer was DM Eller. Production ended in 1922.

vehicles

Various four-cylinder engines with around 35 hp powered the vehicles. They came from GB&S , Herschell-Spillman and Rutenber . The chassis had a wheelbase of 290 cm . The open touring cars offered space for five people. The choice was between left- and right-hand drive .
