Carter Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The brothers A. Gary Carter and Frank L. Carter had previously gained experience in the automotive industry at their Washington Motor Car Company and Carter Brothers Motor Company . In October 1921 they founded the company together with LL Stephens. The headquarters were again in Washington, DC and the plant in Hyattsville , Maryland . They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Cartermobile . Production ended in 1922. In total, only a few vehicles were built.
There was no association with the Carter Motor & Manufacturing Company , which used the same brand name.

The only model was a cheap vehicle and should against the Ford Model T to compete. A four-cylinder engine with L-head of Herschell-Spillman powered vehicles. The chassis had a wheelbase of 284 cm . Open touring cars and two closed vehicles have survived. The original price was 895 US dollars . By comparison, the Ford Model T cost between $ 355 and $ 450 as a touring car at the time.
