Gem Motor Car Corporation was an American manufacturer of automobiles . Another source uses the name Gem Motor Car Company .

Company history

The company was founded in Grand Rapids , Michigan in December 1917 . In the same year the production of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles began . The brand name was Gem . Production ended in 1919. A total of around 85 vehicles were built.

The offer was limited to the Model A . Many parts were bought in. Initially, it was planned to purchase chassis from Pontiac and bodies from Hayes . To what extent this was implemented remains unclear. The four-cylinder engine came from GB&S . The open touring car offered space for five people.
