Company history
Otis C. Friend had experience in automotive engineering as a car salesman for Locomobile and later as sales manager and president of the Mitchell Motors Company . In early 1920 he took over the Olympian Motors Company from Pontiac , Michigan . He started his own company in the same city. He planned to continue producing the Olympian for the time being, while designing a new model. Three vehicles from the new Friend brand were exhibited at the New York Automobile Show in January 1921. Production came to a standstill at the end of 1921. By then around 50 vehicles had been built. Bankruptcy followed on May 1, 1922 .

The only model of the Friend resembled the last Olympian . A four-cylinder engine with 31 hp propelled the vehicles. The chassis had a wheelbase of 284 cm . The bodies available were roadsters and coupés , each with three seats, as well as touring cars and sedans , each with five seats.
A vehicle with a six-cylinder engine was announced but not completed.
