Remal Vincent

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Remal-Vincent was an American automobile brand.

Brand history

Ernest Vincent said he had gained experience with steam cars for almost 20 years . He operated the Steam Automotive Corporation in Oakland , California . Charles H. Reinoehl, Carl W. Mathiesen and William A. Aldrich had tried to manufacture vehicles with the Mathiesen Motors Company . In 1923 they jointly founded the Steam Car Corporation of California . The seat was in San Francisco , California. Mathiesen was President, Aldrich General Manager, Reinoehl Chief Engineer and Vincent as a designer in possession of patents. In the same year, the production of automobiles began in Vincent's small workshop. The brand name was Remal-Vincent . The name was composed of the Re from Reinoehl, the m from Mathiesen, the al from Aldrich, a hyphen and Vincent from Vincent. There were initially three vehicles under construction, and fifteen more planned. The first vehicle was presented on July 16, 1923. The factory was too small for the planned scope of production, so the partners looked for a larger factory. Then there was an argument. Vincent was accused of having installed a different and therefore worse boiler than agreed, as well as having used too much money for experiments. Production ended in 1923. It stayed with the three vehicles. Another source says that only one vehicle was completed.
