Argonne Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Otto R. Bieler and Harold E. Porter founded the company in 1919 in Jersey City , New Jersey . They began manufacturing automobiles, with assembly taking place at the Jersey City Machine Company . The brand name was Argonne . After Bieler's death, Charles S. Singer took over his job. Production initially ended in March 1920. By then, 24 vehicles had been completed. The bankruptcy began in July 1920 . After that, ten vehicles were made from existing parts.

A model with a six-cylinder engine is mentioned for the early days .

First came a four-cylinder engine of Buda with 3710 cc engine capacity used. It drove the rear axle via a four-speed gearbox. A maximum speed of 112 km / h was guaranteed. The design of the radiator grille was similar to that of the Austro-Daimler . A Rochester-Duesenberg engine with 4950 cc displacement was used under the direction of Singer .

In 1919 the range consisted of a roadster with a 302 cm wheelbase and a touring car with a 335 cm wheelbase. In 1902 there was a choice between two- and four-seater sports roadsters. Both had a 300 cm wheelbase.

The last ten vehicles were nine sedans and one coupe .
