Southern Automobile Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles from Tennessee .

Company history

WN Frazee, WA King, LP Miller and WA Schibley founded the company in 1920. The seat was in Memphis . The designer was WF Drake. In the same year the production of passenger cars began . The brand name was Southern Six . In addition, were commercial vehicles and tractors planned. Production ended in 1920. Altogether two vehicles were probably built.

Drake later founded the Drake Motor & Tire Manufacturing Company .

There was no connection to the Southern Automobile Manufacturing Company of the same name from Florida .

The vehicles had a six-cylinder engine from the Continental Motors Company . It made 57 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 323 cm . The price list included a five-seat open top touring car for $ 2,395 .

One vehicle was badly damaged when police officers and bandits engaged in a shootout in a car repair shop. One vehicle was in use for a few years.
