Bauer Taxicab Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Perry Bauer, Price E. Hertz and AL Belle Isle, who worked in the taxi business, founded the company in 1925. The seat was in Chicago , Illinois . They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Bauer . Bankruptcy began in February 1927 . Production then ended.

There was no connection with the Bauer Machine Works Company , which used the same brand name.

The cars were used as taxis . A four-cylinder engine of Buda powered vehicles. The chassis had a 292 cm wheelbase . The door arrangement of the sedan was unusual . A door that could not be opened from the inside led to the rear passenger compartment. Another door was mounted on the front passenger side and hung on the B-pillar . It should enable entry and exit to the rear without annoying other passengers.
