Raleigh Motors Inc. , previously Raleigh Motors Corporation , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

JR Sutterlee, Leroy Sutterlee and George Quimby founded Raleigh Motors Corporation in Bridgeton , New Jersey , in early 1921 . In the same year the production of automobiles began there. The brand name was Raleigh .

At the end of 1921 the company moved to Reading , Pennsylvania , where it traded as Raleigh Motors Inc. Production continued for about six months.

Plans for another move to Buffalo in the US state of New York were no longer implemented.

Production ended in the summer of 1922. A total of 38 vehicles were built. A car dealership in Philadelphia sold all vehicles.

The Model 4-40 with a four-cylinder engine and a new price of 2050 US dollars was planned, but was never produced.

The Model 6-60 , and Model A-6-60 called, had a six-cylinder engine of Herschell-Spillman with 57 hp power. Other important parts were also bought in. The axes came from Spacke Machine & Tool Company , electrics from Westinghouse Electric Corporation , steering from Gemmer and vacuum technology from Stewart . The chassis had a wheelbase of 310 cm . The open touring car with five seats was also named Princess Pat , after a regiment of the Canadian Army and the opera The Princess Pat . The original price was $ 2750. Runabout with two seats, a coupé and a limousine , contrary to the plans, did not arise.
