Paragon Motor Company , previously Paragon Motor Car Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Paul M. Hackenthal had already gained experience in automotive engineering at Mercer Motors Corporation and Templar Motor Car Company . In 1920 he founded the Paragon Motor Car Company in Cleveland , Ohio . He started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Paragon . Hackenthal was an engineer. He needed donors.

J. Fred Kurtz of Connellsville , Pennsylvania offered money. He became president of the company. In February 1921, vehicles were presented at the Cleveland Automobile Show . A little later Hackenthal was on his own again.

In April 1921 the name was changed to Paragon Motor Company . The seat was now in Cumberland , Maryland . Philip M. Brake, the sponsor, became president. A new factory was planned and announced. Nevertheless, production ended in the same year.

A total of at least seven vehicles were built.

There was no association with the Detroit Automobile Manufacturing Company of the same brand name.

The vehicles had a self-developed four-cylinder engine with OHV valve control . It made 60 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 310 cm . Narrated are touring cars with five seats, Sport version with four seats and Roadster with two seats. The curb weight was given as 1361 kg. The original price was 3,000 US dollars .
