Birmingham Motors Corporation was an American manufacturer of automobiles . Another source names the name Birmingham No-Axle Motor Corporation .

Company history

The company was founded in 1920. The first test drives took place in May 1921. Jamestown in New York was chosen as the seat. Samuel A. Carlson, the city's mayor , became the company's president but received no salary. The production of automobiles started slowly. The brand name was Birmingham . Cyrus E. Weaver was the designer. Various legal disputes affected the business. Production ended in 1923. A total of around 50 vehicles were built. There is no known surviving vehicle.

The only model had a six-cylinder engine from the Continental Motors Company with 55 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 315 cm . The suspension was a special feature. To this end, patents from the Blood Brothers Machine Company were bought.

There were plans to take part in the Indianapolis 500 race in 1923 with a racing car .
