A. Howard Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Adam Howard made carriages in Galion , Ohio , since the 1880s . In 1911 he tried to get into the automotive business with the Howard Motor Car Company , but failed without having produced a vehicle.

On September 6, 1916, he founded the A. Howard Company in the same town. In addition, he took over his carriage company. He became President, RW Johnson Vice President, and AW Monroe Secretary and Treasurer. In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Howard . Production initially ended in 1917. In 1919 a single vehicle was presented at the New York Automobile Show .

Other American manufacturers of Howard-brand passenger cars were: Howard Automobile Company from New Jersey , Howard Automobile Company from New York , Howard Motor Works , Howard Automobile Company from Michigan , Central Car Company and Howard Motors Corporation .

The series vehicles from 1916 to 1917 had a six-cylinder engine with 50 hp . The chassis had a 305 cm wheelbase . The structure was an open touring car . The original price was 1,800 US dollars .

The vehicle from 1919 also had a six-cylinder engine with 50 hp. He came from Supreme Motors Corporation . This vehicle was also bodied as a touring car. It has been preserved.
