Whiting Model A from 1910 or 1911

Whiting Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Flint , Michigan in 1910 . It belonged to the carriage manufacturer Flint Wagon Works . James H. Whiting became president. In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Whiting .

In late 1911, William Durant took over Flint Wagon Works . As a result, Whiting production ended in 1912. The Little Motor Car Company later used the plant.

All vehicles had a four-cylinder engine , an ordinary gearbox and cardan drive to the rear axle.

In 1910 the Model A had a 20 hp engine. The chassis had a 229 cm wheelbase . The body was a roadster . The Model C had a 40 hp engine, 279 cm wheelbase and an open touring car body .

In 1911, the Model A received a more powerful 30 hp engine. The new Model E had an engine with 20 hp, a wheelbase of 229 cm and was bodied as a coupé . The Model C was the same as the previous year's model, apart from a longer wheelbase of 295 cm. The Model G was identical as a touring car with four doors except for the body.

In 1912 the range was limited to the Model 22 . This was an indication of engine performance. The wheelbase was 229 cm. The only body style offered was a roadster.
