Blomstrom Manufacturing Company , previously CH Blomstrom Motor Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

CH Blomstrom had made two prototypes in 1897 and 1899 . In 1902 it became an official manufacturer in Detroit , Michigan . The company name has not been passed down. He produced 25 vehicles by the end of 1903. The brand name was Blomstrom .

In early 1904 he founded the CH Blomstrom Motor Company and continued the production of automobiles, which were now marketed as Queen . In the summer of 1906 there were problems with the authorities. In October 1906, the merger with the De Luxe Motor Car Company followed . Production ended with that. A total of around 1500 vehicles were built.

Then there was the Blomstrom Manufacturing Company . The vehicles were again called Blomstrom from 1907 to 1908 . The production plans for the 1908 model year were 200 vehicles. The brand name Gyroscope was used for a special model from 1908 to 1909 . Only a few vehicles were made. In 1914 the company went bankrupt .

Blomstrom was involved in the Rex Motor Company in 1914 and in the Safety Motor Company from 1917 .

The series vehicles had a single cylinder engine . They were bodied as a runabout .

Brand name Queen

A model from 1904 had a single cylinder engine with a 139.7 mm bore , 152.4 mm stroke , 2336 cc displacement and 8 hp . There was also a model with a two-cylinder engine . Both were available as a two-seat runabout and a tonneau .

In 1905 the range comprised four models. The Model B had a two-cylinder engine with 12 horsepower and a chassis with 185 cm wheelbase . The runabout and tonneau have survived. The Model C with two-cylinder engine, 16 hp and 203 cm wheelbase was only available as a tonneau. The Model D had a four-cylinder engine with 24 hp. The wheelbase was 244 cm. The only body shape was a tonneau with side access. The Model E corresponded to the Model C in terms of engines and to the Model D in terms of bodywork , but had a 213 cm wheelbase.

In 1906 there was also a Model E with a 213 cm wheelbase. The two-cylinder engine was specified with 16/20 hp. The open touring car offered space for five people. The Model F also had a two-cylinder engine. It was specified with 12/16 hp. The wheelbase of the two-seater runabout was 193 cm. The Model K had a four-cylinder engine with 26/28 hp. A five-seater touring car body was mounted on a chassis with a 254 cm wheelbase.

Brand name Blomstrom

The only model was the Model 30 . It was larger than the previous Queen models. The four-cylinder engine developed 30 hp in the 1907 models and 35 hp in the 1908 models. The wheelbase of 279 cm and the superstructures as a five-seat touring car and as a three-seat runabout were identical in both years. The cardan drive was new .

Brand name Gyroscope

The only model was the Griswold . A special feature were add-on parts for the engine, which should provide more stability through a gyroscopic effect . The patent for this was bought by the Griswold Motor Company . The vehicles had a two-cylinder engine, which was specified with 16.2 hp. The wheelbase was 241 cm and the track was 142 cm. Runabouts and touring cars were available. Page Woven Wire Fence Company and Lion Motor Car Company bought the drive units.
