Robinson Motor Vehicle Company , previously John T. Robinson & Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

John Tilden Robinson was a co-owner of the Bramwell-Robinson Company . After the separation, he founded his own company in May 1900. The company name was initially John T. Robinson & Company . The seat was in Hyde Park in Massachusetts , now a borough of Boston . He started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Robinson . In 1901 the name was changed to Robinson Motor Vehicle Company . Production ended in 1902.

Robinson then founded the Pope-Robinson Company together with Edward W. Pope .

The first model was still similar to the Bramwell-Robinson models. They are said to be out of date and cumbersome. They had a two-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2464 cm³ . It was mounted under the seat and drove the rear axle via two chains. The vehicles cost $ 1,400 as an open Stanhope and $ 1,500 as a Victoria Stanhope.

A more modern vehicle appeared within a year. It had a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 4928 cm³ and an output of 16 hp . It was mounted in the front of the vehicle under a hood. The transmission had two gears. Was steered with a steering wheel . The structure offered space for four people. One illustration shows a tonneau . The original price was $ 3,500. One vehicle received an award at the New York Buffalo Endurance Run .
