Royal Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Warren N. Akers, Louis B. Dalley and KK McLaren founded the company in 1904. The headquarters were in the state of New Jersey and the factory in Chicago in Illinois . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand names were Royal and Royal Princess . Production ended in November 1905. The company went bankrupt .

Other US manufacturers of passenger cars of the brand Royal were Royal Motor Company and Royal Cyclecar Company .

The vehicles with the brand name Royal were electric cars . The guaranteed range was 120 km. They had a chassis with a 152 cm wheelbase . The choices in the first year were Runabout , Phaeton and Stanhope . In 1905 a Victoria called Queen Victoria was added.

The vehicles with gasoline engines were called Royal Princess . They had a two-cylinder engine with 16 hp . It drove the rear axle via a two-speed planetary gear and a chain. The wheelbase was 208 cm. The structure was a tonneau with side access.
