Meserve Auto Truck Company was an American manufacturer of motor vehicles .

Company history

William Forest Meserve experiments with gasoline engines from around 1895 . In 1901 he manufactured a passenger car and a truck . It was not until February 1902 that he founded the company in Canobie Lake , New Hampshire . He continued the production of automobiles on a small scale. The brand name was Meserve . Production ended in 1904.

The first vehicle from 1901 was a passenger car and had a bought-in single - cylinder two-stroke engine . The buyer was Harry Wilson, a grocer from Derry.

In the same year a truck with a steam engine was built . It was sold to a nearby buyer and used by Pemberton Mills in Lawrence for around 20 years.

Other vehicles based on customer orders followed.

In 1904 Meserve manufactured a vehicle with a four-cylinder two-stroke engine of its own design. It made 32 hp . The transmission had three gears. The wheelbase of the chassis was 274 cm. The body was an open touring car with space for five people. The maximum speed was given as 64 km / h.

In 1905 a vehicle was registered with the Methuen Company in Massachusetts .
