The Stanton Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of steam cars .

description

The New England Motor Carriage Company in Waltham, Massachusetts separated from its automobile production in 1899. This was taken over by Stanton and continued from 1900 to 1901.

The new Stanton Steamer corresponded to its predecessor, the New England Steamer , but received a reinforced chassis. In addition, the two-seater runabout , which was the only version offered so far, was accompanied by a four-seater Surrey .

The Stanton Steamer was a four-wheeled, lightweight vehicle inspired by the bicycle construction of its original designers. It had wire-spoke wheels and a lever instead of a steering wheel. The power was generated by two small high-pressure steam engines and transmitted to the rear axle via a drive chain. The burner ran on gasoline. After the improvements mentioned, the vehicle should have weighed a good 280 kg as a two-seater and around 300 kg as a four-seater. Only a few copies were built, production ended around 1901.
