Michigan Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Byron J. Carter founded the company in Grand Rapids , Michigan in 1901 . He started with the production of automobiles. The brand names were Carter and Michigan . Production ended in the same year. The Clipper Autocar Company continued production under its own brand name in 1902.
Carter then founded the Jackson Automobile Company and later the Cartercar Company .
There was no association with Washington Motor Car Company and Richard Carter Automobile Company , which also marketed vehicles as Carter , and with Fuller & Sons Manufacturing Company (1903-1907), Michigan Motor Car Company (1904-1913) and Michigan Hearse & Motor Company (1916), who also used the Michigan brand name .

The only model was a steam car . The vehicle was bodied as an open runabout and offered space for two people. The convertible top was standard. Was steered with a steering lever. The original price was 1,000 US dollars . For comparison: an Oldsmobile Curved Dash with a gasoline engine cost 650 dollars without a convertible top.
