Newport Engineering Works was an American company in the engineering and manufacture of automobiles .

Company history

A. Livington Mason and his son Earl P. Mason ran the company in Newport , Rhode Island , from 1894 . They produced and repaired steam and gasoline engines for boats . In 1903 they made some automobiles, mostly to customer orders. The brand name was Newport . The company continued to exist after the end of vehicle production.

Only one model was on offer. A gasoline engine with 4 HP power drove the vehicles. According to him, it was a combination of French and American design.
