Richards Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Walter Richards ran a mechanical workshop in Trenton , New Jersey . In 1896 he made three automobiles. The brand name was Richards . Another vehicle followed in 1898 and was also sold. Around 1900 he moved to another address in Trenton. The company name has been handed down for 1901, although it remains unclear whether there was a different company name before. Until 1903 he offered his own vehicles to customer orders. In 1904 he moved again and was now active as a dealership for vehicles from the HH Franklin Manufacturing Company . A repair workshop was added in 1905.

It is not known when the company was dissolved.

The vehicle from 1898 had a four-cylinder engine . The structure was an open touring car . The customer was a doctor from Trenton.

From 1901 Richards offered steam cars . They cost $ 900 as a runabout, $ 1,000 as a Phaeton, and $ 1,350 as a delivery van .
