Theodore F. Bentel Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company from Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania traded in bicycles . In 1900, considerations began to manufacture steam cars , which in the same year led to a first prototype . In early 1901, Theodore F. Bentel, his wife Annie T. Bentel, Thomas J. Jones and Lillie B. Jones founded their own department within the company. They made some steam cars that were sold as Bentel . Production ended in 1901.

There was no connection with Bentel from California , who used the same brand name.

A steam engine propelled the vehicles. The wagons were particularly suitable for the rough roads and steep mountains of western Pennsylvania.
