Lyman & Burnham was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

John Appleton Burnham was one of the partners at Binney & Burnham . After its dissolution, he founded the new company in 1903 with his partner C. Frederick Lyman. The seat was in Boston , Massachusetts . 1903 began the production of automobiles in cooperation with the Fore River Ship & Engine Company from Quincy , Massachusetts. The brand name was Lyman & Burnham . Production ended in 1905.

A total of at least five vehicles were built, because in 1905, depending on the source, five or seven vehicles of this brand were registered in Massachusetts.

The vehicles had water-cooled two - cylinder engines . Depending on the version, they developed 10 hp , 12 hp, 15 hp or 24/26 hp. The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a two-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The structure was an open tonneau with a rear door and space for five people.
