Stratton Carriage Body Company was an American manufacturer of vehicles .

Company history

Charles Henry Stratton founded the company in Muncie , Indiana in 1899 . The predecessor companies are Charles H. Stratton from 1872 to 1874 in Monroeton , Pennsylvania, and the CH Stratton Carriage Company from 1875 to 1892 in Salem , Ohio, and from 1891 to 1895 in Buffalo , New York . He made carriages . In February 1909, the production of automobiles began . The brand name was Stratton . Motor vehicle production ended in the same year.

In 1913 the company was dissolved after Stratton died.

Motor vehicles

Highwheelers were on offer . They had a two-cylinder engine that was mounted under a hood at the front . It made 14 hp . It drove the rear axle via a two-speed planetary gear and two chains. The chassis had a 229 cm wheelbase . The tire size was 36 inches at the front and 38 inches at the rear. Was steered with a steering wheel .
