Essex Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Frank D. Branan, Lawrence W. Cushman, and Arthur Hovering founded the company in Boston , Massachusetts in the spring of 1905 . In 1906 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Essex . There was a collaboration with SR Bailey & Company . Production ended in the same year. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

There was no connection with the Essex Automobile Company and Essex (car brand) .

The only model was a steam car . It had a four- cylinder steam engine . The engine output was specified as 15/20 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 272 cm . The only body shape was a five-seater tonneau with side entry. The original price was 3,000 US dollars .
