Stover Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

As early as 1905, DC Stover had tried in vain to bring Phoenix brand automobiles onto the market. He then ran the Stover Manufacturing Company in Freeport , Illinois to manufacture engines. In 1909 he founded the separate company for automobile production. The brand name was Stover . Vehicle production ended in the same year. Overall, only a few motor vehicles were built .

In December 1909, Stover sold the machines to Buda Engine Co. , but continued to use the factory for his main business.

The passenger cars had a gasoline engine . An inspection car for rail vehicles was also built.
