Rodefeld Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of motor vehicles .

Company history

AH Rodefeld was a blacksmith in Richmond , Virginia . At the beginning of the 20th century he ran an automobile workshop there. In 1909, with the help of his sons Gus and Bill, he began producing automobiles according to customer orders. The brand name was Rodefeld . Vehicle production ended in 1917. A total of around 25 motor vehicles were built , around half of which were cars and trucks . Then accessories were made.

In the mid-1920s it became the Rodefeld Company Inc. , which also manufactured accessories.

Products

All vehicles had a four-cylinder engine with air cooling . The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a chain. The trucks were specified with one ton. In at least one vehicle, the engine was installed across the direction of travel.

A commercial vehicle offered space for twelve people. The company prevailed over International Harvester in a bid by the Wayne County Highway Department . They had a price of $ 1,225, but the competitor was only $ 1,091.50.

After 1917 came water pumps for the Ford Model T .
