Piggins Brothers was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Brothers Charles R. and Frederick H. Piggins ran a mechanical workshop in Racine , Wisconsin . They built a steam car in 1883 , an electric car in 1887 and a vehicle with a gasoline engine in 1902 . It remained a prototype . The brothers realized that the gasoline engine would have the greatest potential. They then made engines for automobiles and boats. In 1908 the production of own automobiles began. The brand name was Piggins .

In the summer of 1909, the company merged with another company from the same city. One source names the Racine Manufacturing Company , another the Racine Machinery Company . Passenger cars of this brand were produced until 1910.

In 1912, the Piggins Motor Truck Company was founded to manufacture commercial vehicles .

Products

The engines for other manufacturers were available as two- , four- and six-cylinder engines. Two-stroke engines were developed for boats .

The company's own car models were called Six . They had a six-cylinder T-head engine . The 36 HP had an engine with 101.6 mm bore , 114.3 mm stroke , 5560 cm³ displacement and 36 HP power. The chassis had a 297 cm wheelbase . The structure was a touring car with five seats. The 50 HP ranked above this . With it 114.3 mm bore and 127 mm stroke resulted in 7819 cm³ displacement and 50 HP power. The wheelbase was 343 cm. The open touring car offered space for seven people.
