Xander Machine & Supply Company was an American manufacturer of engines and automobiles . A biography of the owner confirms the company name and some other data.
Company history
John G. Xander worked for the Keystone Match & Machine Company . After this gave up automobile production, Xander moved to Reading , Pennsylvania . There he founded his own company at the end of 1900. It was a repair shop that also had parts. Xander was also active as a driving instructor . He helped William Grubb of the Light Manufacturing and Foundry Company make his prototypes . In 1901 the production of steam engines and gasoline engines began . Complete automobiles were added in the same year. The brand name was Xander . Vehicle production ended in 1902. The company continued to exist thereafter. In 1903 it took part in a tender. In 1904 the company was mentioned. It is not known when it was disbanded.

Xander made the vehicles to customer orders. There were both steam cars and vehicles with petrol engines.
