Driving instructors train their learner drivers who want to acquire a license to drive vehicles in theory and practice .

Germany

Driving instructors are state-recognized instructors according to the Act on Driving Instructors (Driving Instructor Act, FahrlG) and the related ordinances. According to the income tax guideline H 136, the driving instructor exercises a free profession . His activity is not a trade . Driving instructors train their learner drivers who want to acquire a license to drive vehicles in theory and practice according to the specifications of the FahrschülerAusbO .

The aim of the training is to develop knowledge and skills, insights and, finally, appropriate behavior for the protection of individuals and society.

Driving instructors are either self-employed and at the same time owner of a driving school (driving school owner ) or as employees at a private driving school. The largest association of driving instructors in Germany is the federal association of driving instructors' associations . The official supervision of driving instructors and driving schools is carried out or initiated by the respective road traffic authorities.

Driving instruction permit

Anyone who wants to teach or train learner drivers requires official recognition, the driving instructor license, identified by the driving instructor's license. In Germany, this is issued on the basis of the Driving Instructors Act (FahrlG) by the responsible road traffic authority on application, provided that the applicant fulfills the general requirements and in particular has completed the state-regulated training with a passed examination. Proof of a driving instruction license as a state-recognized driving instructor is provided with the driving instructor's license, which must be carried by the driving instructor during the practical training. The driving instruction license is divided into classes similar to the driving license . The first driving instruction license that an applicant (driving instructor candidate) can acquire is class BE (vehicles up to 3.5 t with a trailer). Requirements of the driving instruction license

General requirements:

Minimum age: 21 years

Candidate driving instructors acquire at a recognized driving instructor training facility

During the practical driving test, the driving instructor candidate must show that he can drive a motor vehicle of the driving instructor license class applied for correctly, safely, nimbly and in an environmentally friendly manner. The BE and A driving test lasts 60 minutes, CE and DE each 90 minutes.

In the written part of the specialist examination, the driving instructor candidate must work on tasks from the relevant areas of knowledge in essay form within 5 hours (BE) or 2.5 hours (other classes).

In the oral part of the specialist examination, the candidate driving instructor has to prove his / her knowledge in 30 minutes to an examination committee consisting of four members (lawyer, driving instructor, pedagogue, technician).

After passing the practical driving test and the specialist examination, the candidate driving instructor is granted the limited driving instructor license by being given the limited driving instructor's license. This temporary permit is valid for two years.

It can also be used to complete an internship of at least 4½ months at a driving school. The internship is interrupted twice by one-week courses at the driving instructor training center, during which the intern has the opportunity to reflect on his internship and his experiences, etc.

After the internship, the teaching samples are taken in theoretical and practical driving lessons. In the presence of usually two members of the examination board, the driving instructor candidate must show that he is capable of driving learner drivers for about 45 minutes each
