The house Bastembourg is the family of the descendants of Thurstan de Bastembourg, according to tradition, son of Anslech (930/940 fl.), Secretarius by Duke William I of Normandy and founder of the castle Bricquebec in Cotentin that are already in the second or Third generation split into two lines, on the one hand the Bertrand (or Bertran), lords of Bricquebec, and on the other hand the lords of Montfort-sur-Risle.
