Fontenay-le-Marmion is a French commune with 1,930 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Évrecy (until 2015: canton of Bourguébus ). The inhabitants are called Fontenaysia .

Fontenay-le-Marmion is about ten kilometers south of Caen . Fontenay-le-Marmion is surrounded by the neighboring communities
- Saint-Martin-de-Fontenay in the north,
- Castine-en-Plaine with Rocquancourt in the east,
- Le Castelet with Saint-Aignan-de-Cramesnil in the southeast,
- Fresney-le-Puceux in the south,
- Laize-la-Ville in the southwest,
- May-sur-Orne to the west and north-west.
