Louvigny is a French commune with 2,742 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . Louvigny belongs to the Caen arrondissement and the Caen-5 canton (until 2015: Caen-8 canton ) The inhabitants are called Loupiaciens .
geography
Louvigny is located on the Caen plain between the Odon (northern municipal boundary ) and Orne (eastern municipal boundary ) rivers . Louvigny is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Caen in the north, Fleury-sur-Orne in the east, Saint-André-sur-Orne in the south-east, Maltot in the south, Éterville in the west and south-west and Bretteville-sur-Odon in the west and north-west.
Route nationale 814 runs through the southern part of the municipality .

In 1798 the previously independent municipality of Athis was incorporated.
