Carpiquet is a French commune with 2,607 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Caen-2 . The inhabitants call themselves Carpions .
geography
Carpiquet is a banlieue about four kilometers east of Caen . Carpiquet is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rots in the north and west, Saint-Germain-la-Blanche-Herbe in the north-east, Caen in the east, Bretteville-sur-Odon in the south and south-east, Verson in the south and south-west and Saint-Marvieu-Norrey in the West and southwest.
Caen-Carpiquet Airport is located in the municipality . The station is served by trains on the Mantes-la-Jolie – Cherbourg line. The route nationale 13 runs along the northern edge of the municipality .
