Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer is a French commune with 2,387 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Courseulles-sur-Mer . The inhabitants are called Saint-Aubinais .
geography
Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer is a seaside resort on the English Channel . Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Langrune-sur-Mer in the east and southeast, Douvres-la-Délivrande in the south and Bernières-sur-Mer in the west. The former route nationale 814 (today's D514) runs through the municipality .
history
The stretch of beach on the Côte de Nacre was called Juno Beach , which merges into Sword Beach , where Allied troops landed on June 6, 1944 as part of Operation Overlord .
