Basly is a French commune with 1,105 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Courseulles-sur-Mer . The inhabitants are known as Basliens .

geography

Basly is about ten kilometers northwest of Caen . The municipality is surrounded by Bény-sur-Mer in the north and northwest, Douvres-la-Délivrande in the northeast, Plumetot in the east, Anguerny in the southeast, Colomby-sur-Thaon in the south, Thaon in the southwest and Fontaine-Henry in the west.
