Mohammed Sahbi Basly

Mohammed Sahbi Basly (* 6. March 1952 in Sousse ) is a Tunisian politician and diplomat in retirement . From January 2005 to September 2010 he was Tunisian ambassador to the People's Republic of China . He is married with three children, a doctor and a practicing Muslim.

Career

He was ambassador to New Delhi from 1999 to 2001. From October 8, 2001, he was ambassador to Madrid . He was ambassador to Beijing from January 2005 to September 2010 and was accredited to the governments of China, North Korea , Cambodia and Laos . The first China-Africa summit took place in Beijing in November 2006, chaired by the Tunisian delegation. In November 2008 he headed the Tunisian delegation at a ministerial meeting between China and the Arab world and chaired a monitoring committee of a China-Africa forum in Cairo. On October 29, 2016, he became chairman of Silk Road International, Cultural and Commercial Organization for the Mediterranean. He founded the Al-Mustakbal (El Mostaqbel The Future) party on September 22, 2015.
